There were no windows to climb out of? Thats what I would do. Next time keep a screwdriver in your dresser drawer, you never know when it will come i handy. I have kids and wouldn't allow a lock on their bedroom doors, but I wouldn't snoop in their room either unless they gave me a reason to.
 
climb out the window or cut the wall open. problem solved
