A concern could be temperature. Most fish that are shipped are in a foam fish box. Maybe you could get the loan of one of these from a lfs.

most shiping packages are oxygen filled. i agree with it depends on the fish. a gouarmi can live in a cup for days but a big cat would need air in an hour

Put it this way I have shipped fish without pure oxygen, just the bag-grab method, and they've all survived.

That includes very sensitive fish that need a lot of DO like Hydrolycus Scomberoides and Cynodon Gibbus.

I've also had fish shipped to me that I know didn't get the pure oxygen treatment, and survived.

Well if you want to get technical 17% of the air you exhale is oxygen SO if ytou got scared you could always blow into the catainer or just open it and let the old air out and the new air in... First aid 101 class LOL This year ANd not that it's sayin much causxe i could so my hjomies up when we were in a bind and couldn't go to the hospital,, but ya they certified me this year

bait section of walmart, or a store like it. there made for bait buckets.

I dont think transporting them would be a problem for only 5-6 hours without filtration or an airpump. I would limit it to one fish per container and use the largest container possible.

I would put them in big double/triple bags, much, much better insulation - trust me.

Or just use a cooler.
A good cooler will insure minimal temperature change.

Could I keep fish in a rubber maid for 5-6 hours w/o haveing to have a filter or aireator???

I just remembered, back in 2000, I moved from VA to NY 8 - 10 hours & had no issues. The water moved with each turn/start/stop I think 5-6 you will be fine. But if you are getting a pump you should consider the AC inverter with an existing pump rather than the battery option, nore use later.
