horseheads, ny
I'm meeting someone to pick up a 10" pleco. They will be traveling 3+hrs. then I will be traveling another 3+hrs. can it survive in a bag that long? I have a converter so I could set up a bucket with a heater and airstone if needed. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated because I've never traveled this far with a fish before.

get a rubber main container, and ditch the bag. you'll be good.

i did a 10hr drive like that.

beat yah my 2 gts pbass and oscar and 3 plecos survived in a rubber maid tub 15 hour drive from ny to ga with a battery op bubbler and the heat from the uhaul and yes they rode shottie

because you aint hardcore unless you live hard core and driving with fishes 15 hours is def soooo hard core
:)

Thanks for the advice Haynchinook. So if the other guy bags him for the first half and I put him in a bucket or rubermaid container I'll be alright? I am in the northeast and it is cold but the car will be warmed up. Do you suggest converter, airstone, and heater?

He will be fine, I would put him in trash bag (one with no odor guard crap) or a fish bag if you have one big enough and put that in a large Styrofoam box or rubbermaid container. The pleco's spines will prolly puncher the bag so you could do without but make sure the box you put him in is well sealed so water doesnt go every where when you slam on the brakes. Also you only need enough water just to cover his body the rest should be air.

I suggest he doesn't feed it, for at least 3 days before the trip as well...
