I know people who travel some distances to purchase fish or supplies. I've have done it a few times when I went to the Bronx and got some fish and brought them home to ct. I've always wondered how people to it traveling over seas ,other states or countries. Like do they ship them a head of time or pack them in luggage ?

always wondered the same thing! cant wait to see what people have to say

Prior to 9/11 it was no problem transporting fish on airplanes (domestic flights within the USA). Since then, things have changed. For quite some time, airlines were not allowing fish on planes. Airlines are slowly coming around and allowing passengers to carry fish in their carry ons. You don't really want to place your fish in your luggage due to low temperatures at higher altitudes. Also if your luggage gets lost of mis-routed, your fish may be dead. Much easier to just ship the fish back home.
Importing and exporting fish is another matter all together. Fish have to be cleared with Fish & Wildlife. There is a large fee for this.

I was curious and never try it on a plane at least. No one has never really posted how they did it or would. I figured you would want to bring em on board due to low temps and lost luggage.

I have transported fish with me, before 9/11,

I have transported many herps in my luggage, recently.

And i have driven for 5000 kilomteres just for an arowana, in 2 days. Picked her up in Lindon at T1Karman and brought her back. Lots of water, battery pumps, and my son and me driving like crazy.

Went out from Lisbon on friday, the areo was in the tank sunday at lunch time....:)

Thanks for the link joe. Miguel that's some trip for an aro. The longest I've ever traveled with fish is from Hoboken NJ to Waterbury ct I'm not sure exactly how far it is but it's about a 4 hour trip on way.

4 hour trips is staple for me, in my amphi rescue missions.
