hi everybody i was just wondering if any body could give me advice on treating my rays on internal parasites all so would like everybody personal experiences and opinion on this

thanks for your time ;)

every time i thought my rays had something wrong with them it was just water quality issues.I killed a leoxhen with prazi "thought they had parasites" but turned out all the rays were fine and i learned the hard way.
What makes you think they have parasites?you need to tell us more.Rays can live just fine with internal parasites dont stress them out and they will fight them off naturally. The issue with parasites in captivity is rays are in stressful environments or transport???? what ever the stressor is, creates the ray to become weak.My experineces everytime i think something is wrong check out water issues first.sometimes it takes weeks to figure out what it is but just dont panic.Their are some sure signs of parasites so please tell us why you think your rays have them.dont ever medicate without being 100%

gshock are you a outdoors man.have you ever went fishing in your life?????
if you have and gutted enough fish and actually know anything about them you will be amazed to find tape worms are very common in alot of fish.and they work good if you put the tape worm back on a hook and use it for bait.

now have you ever positively identfied a internal parasite in your life???you know how to and probably read alot about it but still very uncertian.I know i can say that i have tried with micro scopes and never ever found anything.even when the ray has white poop ,skinny not eating much.you should try to id one in your rays.theirs only one way and thats to see it with your eyes.

anybody who thinks they have parasites in their tanks try to id them its very difficult.unless you have some sort of worms hanging out of the anus "which i have id this before in my discus"

have you ever feed your rays smelts??? what about live black worms, i have seen weird parasites in blackworms and i can gaurantee some frozen smelts have tapeworms

I only fish artificials and never use live bait nor soft plastics, meaning I have never gut hooked anything. Anyway, I'm not saying a fish can't live with internal parasites. If it isn't severe, it might possibly live its life without me even knowing. Despite this, I highly doubt they're going to be able to fight them off naturally. Of course, the most accurate way of identification is microscope, but if that isn't an option, there are obvious signs by just looking at your ray. If it's eating regularly but not putting on weight or is losing weight, or if it doesnt eat at all and is losing weight abnormally fast, it's obvious signs of internal parasites. If one were to follow proper procedure and quarantine everything first, majority of these ID issues would never happen. One would never have an issue of having to dig out the source of internal parasites if the issue is brought up during the quarantine period. If you don't have the space to quarantine, then should you be buying the ray in the first place? Just some food for thought.

haha i didnt mean i gutt hooked them,i mean when i fish for food and not sport.once and a while i love to bring fresh fish home and sometime gutt the fish along the shore and have a shore lunch.
Gutting is slang for cutting open the fish and cleaning out the gutts "making it clean to eat"

i dont want to start a arguement i went through this with discus and thought my rays got it. read this page i bought some of this stuff last summer.my discus had been stressed by my rays and problems started with them.Eventually i could see small worms hanging out of the discus anus.I freaked out removed the discus treated them with this stuff "it worked amazing" eventually i thought my rays had internal parasites and they were going to die. Those discus were with 5 of my rays for 6 months.i never treated the rays to this day and they are all fine with no signs of internal parasites

http://wormerplus.co.uk/index.php if you have parasites buy this product it works great.

Its kinda sick to see how crazy other fish go for a tape worm i pulled out of another fishes gutts. We used to fish alot for perch and literally see thousands on the edge of the dock.the would bite anything but a tape worm was delight to them.

besides the common signs of internal parasites like gshock mentioned alot of those exact same signs could mean many other things too.the only 100% way is to see it.
I would love for anybody on here to scope a fecal sample of their rays and actually find something!!

and the fish up here are alot different than rays but similar in the fact they can both carry worms.most internal parasites are a type of worm, and most fish can easily survive with them for a life time.once you stress them is when you get problems, but i beleive they can survive just fine with a worm.some of us probably have worms too!!!

i had got a male motoro and he had some real stringy poops lol my other rays have real curly poops so i read some were that if the poop is stringy or not curly there was something rong i do know that alot of wild caught have parisites all of my rays are wild cought so i was just kind figuring that there was some thing rong he did die allredy but iam getting another on saterday so iam not concernd about it but would still like some good info on peoples experinces with this so like i said he died and when he died his ass end would float up and he would fight it back down it was weird i checked my water and it was perfect i think there was some thing rong internaly
