Guppy, what are the symptoms of amonia poisoning? My feeders normally die w/ reddish or somewhat swollen gills

Sounds like this is a case of gill burns brought by ammonia.

ammonia reading should be zero?

Yes. Along with nitrites. Any detectable level of ammonia and nitrites can be fatal to the fish.

1st time getting this fungus and boy is heat wrong. saw a lil spot when I got home, thought it was just a scratch, so I put it in the hospital which is 88*, aerated, and added salt. checked back in an hr and it was just horrible. 6hrs and dead.

will def get some meds for if it ever happens again. because finding out after everything has closed is no good.
