Treating natual Drift Wood?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
just once with hot water, it makes it sink in faster. I don't know how much salt you'll need exactly but I use as much as can be dissolved in the water. any salt will do, but the stuff I recommended is super cheap.

Ok, cool, so it would be the same then with a 10g (if i treat it and waterlog it in a 10g) if i can fit it in there? Just salt and leave the heater on or something?

yes. the hot water is not needed it just speeds up the process. if you don't use hot water, no big deal just let it sit an extra day.

1) collect driftwood
2) pressure wash (if you don't have pressure washer, scrub with stiff bristled brush, then hose off, then repeat)
3) boil, if too large to boil - take racks out of dishwasher and sanitize it (no soap)
4) now it's safe and clean. Just submerge in large tub. If water darkens, change every couple days. When it doesn't float any more - put in tank.
This always works for me.

agreed ...I usually skip #4
