my G. Surinemensis has been flashing and has been twitching its fins. what can i do to treat this? i would like to get this water in top shape. my water clearly has some weird stuff going on and i think it has something to do my tap. some chemicals or something in my water may be hiding and the water conditioner doesn't kill it because i have similar effects in 2 of my other tanks.

Do you mean he has clamped fins?
What are your Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate levels?
Are you keeping the water warm enough for him?

i have only added one fish to the tank that wasn't with the fish before i moved them and he was in one of my other tanks for about 2 months. i haven't tested my params since saturday so i will get you percise params, my water is around 74 degrees, i wish to and used to keep it at 82 and all my fish enjoyed it, but my heater broke cause my stupid self forgot to turn it off and pull it out and it cracked from the water change.
I would get another heater -- the temperature could be fluctuating in there -- is this the 125 gallon you've got in your sig? The smaller the tank, the more dramatic and faster temperature is going to fluctuate, but this is a pretty big tank, so that's probably not the problem. It still may be a little cold for them, though.
If you tested Saturday, and everything was fine, it's unlikely anything is off now, but it's still good to be sure.
As for the new addition, I can't imagine that it brought anything in that you didn't see in the two months he was elsewhere...

im stumped to! i've had the addition for almost a year i just moved the jd to a smaller tank to seclude him and noticed he wasn't very happy so i moved him into the 125 gallon tank. again i will get you better water params by morning.
in my care i haven't treated them for anything before, they were fine when i quarantined them in my 75 gallon tank. and after introducing them into my 125 gallon tank they started acting weird.
Generaly speaking, flashing and twitching fins is a sign of external parasites of one type or another, or something in the water that is irritating them. The fish try to rub against something to dislodge the parasites, just like we scratch. So, Are there any changes evident in the tank? How long has it been set up? Does it have sand or gravel, or barebottom? Anything recently added to the tank, like decorations or plants? Can you see anything in the water, floating around? How clear is the water?
