What type of wood?

oh iono what type of wood it is but one thing for sure that is was never attached to any type of tree in my backyard....it was sitting in a old wooden table in the backyard with a couple of plastic chairs.....it may have been their before we moved in like more than 4 years ago.....but if estimated....it would have been 10 years since we noticed it outside our backyard....we never touched it since then....but it is now been boiling in the bucket for over 8 hours now...

oh i also got this large wood that looks like a driftwood in the back of my uncles truck which he took from a river down where he went camping at....i boiled it too cause i wanted it in my tank...but every since i boiled it with my other branches....it wont sink to the bottom...=/ is it ever gunna sink to the bottom? if so how long do i have to wait for it to be water logged?

There is nothing wrong with using cedar in aquariums. It will depend on what type and how old it is though. I use cedar in my tanks with no problems at all. There are some amazing setups using HUGE cedar driftwood such as some that Plantbrain has setup.

Cedar must be well cured and barkless before using, fresh cedar and cedar bark can be lethal in a tank.

:iagree:
Good point. All of mine is found in Northern Ontario and has been laying around for who knows how long. It is very dry, barkless and aged. I personally don't think it would ever sink on its own.
