May 15th is the day it finally happened!
I've been planning this out for over a year and they arrived today.
The hobby as a whole has appeared to be shrinking for over a decade. Jeff Rapps stepping out of the role of distributor was a painful. Dan closing COTA and then TUIC under Kevin's rein closed less than a year later reflects the dwindling hobby. So now getting high quality less common fish is much more of a challenge.
I was very happy to hear
Beani keeper
, a member here, has a F1 pair of Trimacs that are offspring of a W0 pair Dan/COTA had. So I've been talking to Beani Keeper for a while of my plan/desire. And he came through like a champ!
My plan is to get a full brood of Trimac fry from the best Trimac pair I can find. While a brood from F0 parents would be idea, F1 parents are a solid option. And today I received 100+ 5.5 week old F2 Trimac fry. I will now raise out this full group, culling anything with physical imperfections early on.
I have two 6'x2.5'@2.1' 234 gallon aquariums dedicated to them. They will grow out in one, shrinking the group some as I cull imperfections. Each time a pair forms, I'll immediately remove the male and move him to the second aquarium. Eventually splitting the group in half, males in one tank females in the other. They'll continue to grow out without the pressure of pairing/spawning.
While I love my fish, I don't enjoy playing photographer and I'm not good at it. But I'll try none the less...

Above is a diagram of their current tank. This is a 2' 20 gal inside of a 6' 234 gal. To the left is a HMF (Hamburger Matten Filter - Simply large sponges that cover the entire sidewall with a pump behind it) with a 158 gph pump behind it. That pump pushed water into the 20 gal, which is drilled with overflows flowing back into the 6' tank. The overflows have a sponge prefilter.

Above is the 20 gal with 100+ TriBabies (Trimac Fry) and a couple of pieces of driftwood. The lighting looks awful as their are floating plants (Frogbit) in the 6' tank with blue & red plant lights on them. Once the TriBabies have a few hours to settle in I'll change the lighting for a photo op.
