Tricking my Arowana! HAHAHA

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hahah good idea i would do it with worms and crickets but thats all too disgusting for me il go with the mp instead. My jar hates the hikari sticks so he fu*ks with me and chews it all up and spits it out. making me clean up after him. evil jar. but thanks guys, let you guys know how it goes. hope it works

hrmm how come i never thought of sticking pellets into the shrimp to trick the fish... very clever!

I wonder how many hikari sticks you could stick in a finch or a duckling?

Nice work, maybe he'll get a taste for the sticks after awhile...let's hope

Technically, this is a good sign. By your Jar "chewing" the stick into pieces, it's an indication that your Jar is actually starting to accept it. If you continue feeding the sticks (patience, grasshopper) you'll notice that there will be less, and less stick debris that will be discharged from his mouth. Before you know it, he'll accept them with no hesitation.

thanks il try that too but yesterday i stuck a full hikari stick in a ripped piece of mp and soaked it water for about 2 min to let it soften up and fed it to my 5 in jar. he quickly took the mp and just swalloed it. but i was really scared because it looked like he was choking on it and and swimming really wierd. i was getting really worried for about min in half then he was fine. lol i tricked him and that was his first protein bar.

Hey fellas, I have an update on feeding aussie. Although he is eating his share of cricket-sticks, I have noticed that he is eating less now. When I was feeding him just crickets he would scarf down 5-6 easy. Now that I added the sticks he seems to stop at 3 and then no more interest. He's also getting better at trying to cough up the sticks and only sucking down the cricket. It's getting reaaalllly messy when it's feeding time now with all the particles of stick floating around :irked:. Bought some ghost shrimp to stay in the tank to help clean the mess and hopefully get him to start getting the taste for shrimp since I bought a can of freeze dried krill that he still won't eat. I'm trying to get him to about a foot long before I try starving him to eat krill and sticks only.
I knew it was tough to keep a jardini around, but this is getting ridiculous. I used to have a silver and a black aro and they were alot easier to feed sticks and krill.
