I agree about the poor placement of the filter socks. I'll be proactive with keeping them clear, but I would think that with my low flow-rate plus there being (4) 7"x16" socks it will be a very long time before they overflow.

If hes happy with it then fine. I was simply stating how much a pain it would be to do that. If hes going to spend the time to drill the assembly and all of his filter socks he would be better off to completely redesign the holder to begin with. The actual easiest way would be to rebuild the holder with 3 way elbow corner pvc pcs and make it just a little smaller so you could tip it some and get it inside tank a couple inches and put legs on it to hold the sock assembly up but below the rim.

I offered ideas on what he actually asked for help with which was the drip plate.

use the plastic peg board for a drip tray. I got some online and if you want to increase the drip rate just drill bigger holes.
