This works for me as well. Also try 3 mm NLS sinking pellets. Then move to 5mm when they are eating. Hikari are fricken expensive to feed rays.

i starve my rays (8"-11") for 10 straight days, but every day i throw some pellets that are soaked in smelt juice just to see if they would take it... by the 10th day all of them took the pellets.

never seemed like much of a trick... just mixed in Massivore pellets with nightcrawler feedings, slowly leaning towards fewer nightcrawlers and more pellets

those of you that have your rays on massivore, what if any change have you seen in your rays look helthier, fatter, more active,???granted theres alot cleaner food than say worms,shrimp,anchovies,ec..thus cleaner water after feeding..but what other benefits have you found??

From what I've read and understand about pelletized food, in just about any form, is more nutritional than frozen food..

Although most frozen seafoods, like shrimp, are very high in protein and calories.. it may not be nutritionally balanced. Alot of vitamins are water soluable so feeding anything in pelletized form will pass on more nutrition. I look at Pellets more like a vitamin supplement, and probably the most nutritionally balanced staple diet.

However, raykeepers have kept rays for years without pellets mainly on a diet of varied Seafood.. but if you feed 1 thing or your ray gets picky I could see how a nutrition deficiency would arise. Try eating Cheerios your whole life.. :D

never noticed any difference just know the pellets are healthier for the rays...
