tricks to keeping a jardini alive

im geting a jardini tomarrow and i need to know all the tricks of keeping him alive, he is about 4-5 in and he is going in a 75 all by himself.
later in a few weeks i am going to try and get him some friends, what fish should i put in with him (preff from the same places)

do you want to just keep him alive or do you want him to thrive?
