whats the most gPH you can push through a 1.5” drain ? I have a 4300gph pump I was hoping to use to get a better turnover rate without drilling another drain. Any inputs would be appreciated !
Theoretical flow can be calculated pretty accurately with Hazen-williams formula. This does not take into account friction loss due to plumbing fittings.
Yup that chart is a decent ballpark figure. As long as you slap a gate valve on it you should be able to come close. I have my gate barely opened with two 1.5 inch drains tee'd to it. I could lnt get the tip of my pinky finger in the opening
Your 4300gph pump probably wont give you 4300gph once it is in your system making accurate calculations / predictions difficult. If the flow from the pump is too much for your overflow then just put a restrictor between the pump and the tank to throttle the flow to match your return.
