triggerfish update

i have had the niger, humu humu picasso, pinktail and the blue jaw together for almost a month now (dec. 21 to now), all are mixing great! the pinktail is fat now, with an appitite to match as do the others. they are all just piggs, eat till their full and try to eat more, remind me of oscars in their eatting. the blue jaw and pinktail are showing much more green then i expected. agresstion is almost nonexistant, just the pinktail and the niger have a scrap now and then. the fins are a little marked up on both, but no chunks missing. none of the other triggers bother eachother or their tankmates. in fact their is more agresstion between the damsels then the triggers. they are eatting new life spectrum pellets, scallops, shrimp and snow crab. oddly the pinktail is the only one interested in moving rocks around.

i have started the convertion of the 120gal, as it will be a slow process. i will be doing my first sump with it. i will be getting a large skimmer, not sure on the brand i should get, but i have been scoping ebay out for some. i will be doing some white fiji sand i found or another white fine grain sand. i also found a nice powerhead for it something like 1500gph with twin directional tubes.

Sweet, can't wait to see pics. I have a 5-6" Titan, a 4" Picasso and Blue Jaw. No agression here either. Triggers may be my new favorite fresh or salt although A. Citranellus is hard to beat.

still working on the camera, i may get it today. if not i will try for some cell phone pics.

cool little behavior that i have noticed is that the niger has claimed a territory. the other three have 'homes' they go to the same rocks every night and they hang around them mostly. they do inter mix and swim/play in the current together. the niger has three rocks that make a cave and it wont go more then 6" away from the rocks for long. it defends it with an amazing amount of courage as it is the smallest trigger. i didn't notice it was just staying in its territory untill now. i think that it's marked fins were from the defence of it. i have seen it there in the same spot before, but just never made the connection. then today i was watching it and anytime the pinktail got with in 5" of it's 'air space' it would flare and then the pinktail would flare then just go away. nothing real agressive, but more of a 'hay punk, this is my rock...go find your own.' other fish can go into it with out problems, just the pinktail can't. for the most part none of the other triggers go over to that far end of the tank anyway, maybe thats why the niger claimed it.
