I have a bunch of severums, and they seem to be pairing up, but I need to know how to trigger spawning...they have the white bellies, and they lip lock, and shake at each other a lot. I think I have 2 males, and 2 females. There are only 2 that pair up right now, bu tit is on and off.

So, how do you trigger spawning for the severums?

Thanks

My severum pair has spawned several times, and every time they spawn it is the morning after I do their weekly water change. I usually tend to feed them some bloodwords before I do a water change also.

Hope this helps,
Ryan

I got two pair of appendiculatum to breed in the same tank by adding a filter bag of peat. I replenished the bag after every other water change and within six weeks, both pairs spawned. Water was clear as mud, but it worked.

Don't know specifically with severums, but with most of my pairs, I can feed lots of live foods (black worms, red wigglers) and do a big water change with cooler water to promote a spawn.

Thanks you guys...I will try these tips...:D

just keep them happy. im due for a water change in my 125g and my severums just spawned this afternoon while i was at work. i've never noticed one thing that triggers spawning with mine, they just get down to business when they are in the mood

what are your water parameters?

Ok, cool. I just did a water change, added some cooler water over their rock...

I might block them off from the cichla and other cichlids, because I dont know if they influence what happens/
