Trimac/3 Spot Cichlid ID HELP? PICS

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes thats a convict

That LFS seem to have horribly over priced fish i don't know how much every thing cost in philly but here TSNs are $20 RTC are around $30-$50 Silver aros are around $30-$40 for small ones at least

You got ripped off big time...Not only did they tell you a Convict was a Trimac but they charged you $12 for a regular Convict....They go for $7 bucks at Petsmart here. I don't understand how they mistake a Convict for a Trimac LOL.

sounds like that fish store isnt very reputable at all. there prices are rediculous. oscars sell for 10 bucks and big ones sell for 20.00 because everyone takes them back when they get big.

this is a sad insane thread.
i cant beleive the stupidity here. not in you, but in the LFS. its sikkening.

OK so i picked up this little guy for $12 (good price)?? I read on a thread from awhile ago that most trimacs are usually frontosas and espicially if you bought them from petsmart. I bout this from my lfs and they are very knowlegded fish wise. But i want to make sure this is a tri mac. I think i trust this store but the sell regular red oscars that cost $95, silver aros for $200, rtc for $195 and tsn for $145..so i want to make sure this is the correct fish and hopefully i can trust the store....sorry bout the quality of pics

Stop trusting this store if everything is as you say. They are completely unkwoledgable or trying to trick you if they sold that as a Trimac. The convict has to be one of the most common cichlids sold in the hobby so they should have easily ID'd it as one. I bet they don't sell too many fish at those prices either... or what, are they the only lfs for a hundred miles?

that sure is a convict, I suppose someone "not into fish" could somehow mistake it for a frontosa
perhaps.

True I can see Convicts mistaken for Fronts and Trimacs for flowerhorns in some cases if your not familiar with them:)
