Trimac cichlids -VS- Blue freckled Monster cichlids

curious why you picked those two to compare?

because I have these 2 breeds and I love them both so I just want to see what others think of them.

Just purchased my first trimac a couple days ago and he's only like 1". So I don't have any experience with them. View attachment 938978

A Trimac was my 3rd fish when I started my first own tank. Congrats on having one of the most beautiful and koolest cichlid of the new world. Nice Umbee. No Dovii gonna beat him for his spot imo

2 fish requiring completely different tanks. An Umbee will require a MUCH bigger tank.

These aren't really comparable in my opinion. If you've got a 300+ gallon tank, get an Umbee. If you don't, then get the Trimac.

My number one and two. Love both species but even though trimacs are my second favorite, umbees trounce them by far. If I could only have one fish, ever, it would be a Rio Mag umbee. No contest.

That's what I was thinking do you plan on buying a tank based on your decision or do you have a 300 gallon sitting around? If its the second one I would without a doubt go with the umbee
