Trimac markings

Just an FYI, the color of your substrate will likely impact the coloration of your Trimac as well. I had one previously that would get almost black with a dark substrate. I mixed a light and dark substrate and the colors really evened out on my specimen (my post history might have it). Try adding some darker things in your tank and see if it has any impact at all.
Oh definitely agree. I actually had them on a black sand originally, which had them looking drab and brownish so I switched them over to this light sand. They almost instantly started to show yellow and look much nicer overall. The markings or lack thereof have not changed with either sand coloration on this current group, but I have seen the substrate make a tremendous difference before.

Here's an older pic of a male I had years ago on black substrate, lighter colored ceramic tile to see if it made any impact, and then on a lighter color sand bottom:
