I came across this video on Youtube today, the owner says it's a Trimac, but too me it looks like a Flowerhorn. In one of his comments on the page, he says there are two types of Trimacs, the green trimac and a gold trimac. I have never heard of a gold Trimac as a true pure breed but only as a off shoot of a strain of Flowerhorn. What do you guys think, Trimac or Flowerhorn?

Since a flowerhorn, is usually a hybrid combination of a trimac, and something else, it's impossible to know for sure just looking. You could only know if you'd seen the parents (and maybe grandparents) in a reputable breeders tanks, or did some DNA sequencing.

cant say for sure but it could be a product of selective breeding/line breeding. go to tangled up in cichlids site jeff has a pic of a mail that has a lot of pink like that.

p.s i just checked it and i would say pure jeffs fish looks real close to that one nice trimac.

To many black blotches all the TRImacs i bought off rapps years ago never had more than 3 spots and although some do get alot of pink on the throat area that one has it a little to high...so flowerhorn. If you go down and watch the trimac vs midas video you can see what i believe a true trimac should look like.

i have seen lots of pure trimacs with more than three spots. my curent male came from a pair i got from ken, he started out with three spots and it expanded to 5 or so.
all i was saying is the fish looks like the one jeff has on his sit

They can have more than 3 spots, I'm going by color and shape, Lots of citranellum in that fish. Ken
