Hey guys I have about a 5 inch Trimac in a 29 gallon tank. I know I can't keep him in there for long so I am getting him a 75 in August but I was wondering if there was any kind of dithers that I could put in with him so hes not quit as shy. I know the likely hood of them living into august is slim but the only thing I really need them to do is eat pellets thats the only requirement and i have baby pellets that they can eat but I am just looking for suggestions its not a definite that I am going to put dithers in but its an option that I am looking into.

Probably not. They don't have anywhere to escape to when he goes into killer berserk mode.

Dido. Trimacs are like a terminator in fish form.

You could put some Giant Danios in if you like... since you're willing to accept they will eventually get eaten...

Barbs>2"!!! Take the Trimac out of the tank, reorganize the decorations, lower the temp, turn out the lights, introduce the barbs, then introduce the trimac. Give it a day then turn the lights back on and see who survives. I've successfully kept rosy barbs as dithers for a Trimac/FH pair in the past. Good luck.

I had a female that was actually hunting my barbs.

If you want Dithers get a 125g and get some silver dollars or Tin foils. Will be enough room for them to escape.

I'm using buenos aries tetras in my 29gal. The jag picked off the albino one but the others remain unharssed for the moment.

How little Spanky doing?

hes doing really well, hes about 8 months now and still losing his teeth. Hes gotten into the mode where hes chewing on everything (especially my shoes) and hes become very fresh with everyone he thinks he can get away with anything. But in all hes doing pretty well.
