I snapped a few pictures of the Trimac today. He's growing like a weed. This is the one I got from Jeff Rapps at 1.5" along with a female but she was killed by my Festae. He's 4" now and is already biting glass trying to attack my fingers. His appetite is tremendous...he scarfs down anything and everything I throw at him with high enthusiasm. lol

I've never raised a Trimac before. Does anyone know by looking at him if he'll be green when he grows up or will he be the yellow variety? It also appears he's no longer a '3 spot cichlid'. Some new spots are starting to appear.

(sorry about the dirty plants)

gorgeous so far,
wait do i see a butti in their? or is that a con?

Thats a convict. Buttikoferi's look much different. Though similar, well ya know.

Also, about that trimac, not much colour? Or will it get much broader and deep with more size? Of course they'll get more colourful with age but is this thier average colouring?

Never had a trimac before, but this guy looks awesome! Great teeth too!

I have very large male which I raised from a juvie and mine never looked like that. That is a mix of things for sure. That body shape seems to be a little wierd for a Trimac and the green colour is most definitley not a Green of a Trimac. Trimac green is like a very dark olive colour, maybe a little gray. Your seems like a Greensih Turquoise. Like there is some blue in it, which is not on trimacs

here is a pic of mine

There are many variants from one river to the next in the wild, creating many color and body types. Jeff will not sell you a mix, if he's says Trimac, thats what it is.

It's a wild caught convict also from Mr. Rapps.

Yep the black and white striped look.

He's got some pretty good color for a juvie. What I was asking is if he'll stay green or turn yellowish. After seeing Chago's gorgeous Trimac, I think I have a good idea of what he'll look like.

Chago are you fairly new to the fish hobby? Don't you know that even among the same species, there are different color variations and slight differences in body shape? It sounds like your saying that if a Trimac doesn't look exactly like yours, it must be a 'mix of things'. That then breaks down to saying Jeff Rapps sold me a Flowerhorn. If Rapps says it's pure Trimac, I believe him. :headbang2

Chago that's a great looking Trimac btw, he has great finnage. You've done a good job raising him up. Mine is mostly green with some turquoise mixed in on the back half. He has blue (and red) markings in his dorsal, ventral and anal fins. The rings around the spots are turquoise too. All those pics are taken with a flash so maybe he the pics came out too bright looking.
