Trimac Update:

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
LOL didn't want to offend anyone lol all I am saying is not only does it not look like mine but I have never seen one look like that is all. And just so everyone knows yes Rapps is a great dealer but guys he is just as human as we are. He could be lied to as well and be given mixed fish, unless its wild caught of course. He didn't catch the fish himself nor does he speak fish. Therefore in some cases he may have been fooled and not known. Not a attack on Rapps or anything I am just saying it's not written in stone just because its from him

you sure it's a he? I was thinking female due to the coloring on the front part of the dorsal fin. I may be mistaken though. Also this would explain why the head shape is different than chago's.

I do know what you mean Chago, especially at this point in time, when intentionally or not, people misguidedly mess with pure strains, and may try to put one over, or don't really know for sure what they have. One of the reasons hybridizarion can be so destructive. I do believe Jeff, and other top breeders take special care to assure what they have is not contaminated.

Keep feeding him and before you know it he will be THIS 15" beast. :D This guy may have a little FH in him, not sure, but he's mostly Trimac. VERY aggressive. My fav fish. GBG

My old 13" male Trimacs colors would fade from a very dark green and then 5 minutes he would be a light gray. Trimacs are on the fastest growing Cichlids I have ever kept, they seem to do very well feeding off night crawlers.

It's cool Bro, I'm not offended (too much). lol I guess I can see what you mean but Jeff isn't just a dealer, he's a breeder. He breeds these from adult Trimacs that he determines are of pure blood. Jeff is a true cichlid expert and until proven wrong, I'm going with his reputation on this.

GBG, that's a beautiful fish dude. That's the yellowish color variation I was talking about.

Ammerman, I 99% sure it's a male. I think it's just a shadow or illusion of the camera. He doesn't have the black blotch on his dorsal.

Caveman, how long did yours take to get to 13"? Mine is growing about an inch per month.

Bruce, he may be a little bigger than 4" but not much. I don't like to exagerate my fish size cuz then I'm full of sh*t.

Thanks all.

Thanks all.
I would say it took him a little under 2 years but I am not positive because it was about 5 years ago.

man that fish has some wicked teeth. It lacks the markings of a typical Trimac but I have seen a pic of one of stilllearnings trimacs that also lacked the markings on the side
