Cool - thanks for sharing. A good example that most of us likely overfeed our fish - looking at these vs. most chunky aquarium Trimacs.

I think the ones in the video are not adult, and I think they're female. when you see a "chunky" Trimac in an aquarium, it's probable a year or two old, mature, fully grown, and male. It's beaten out smaller competitors, probably killed them.

I think age and natural selection skew aquarium specimens, not overfeeding.

As this river is in oaxaca Mexico and the veija has a noticeable lateral line marking it will be veija zonatus.
Other characids are astyanax species.
