Very nice fish everyone!!!

What confuses me is that they can be mixed with other cichlids but try to do it with a FH and u get death. Totally mind blowing to me!!!

My large male pictured a few pages ago was a bruiser and would destroy any fish in the tank with him... except for the sexy female Trimac...

I had a few females and they would tolerate being in teh tank with a fish that they couldn't beat up on... but would beat up on just about anything they could...

So while I do no think that your typical Trimac has the psychotic abuser mantality that Flowerhorns are known for... I wouldn't consider them "tank mate friendly" either...

They just aren't psychotic...

:iagree:

They are not generally not cold blooded killers but I would be very cautious trying to introduce a new fish into a tank a big male Trimac has clamed as his own. That being said, the above statement can be true for quite a few big aggressive cichlids. Trimacs however do possess the size, will and power to kill just about anything you could put in with him if he thinks his turf is being violated. Mine has been sharing a 180 for the last 5 months or so with a 9” Midas (female?) and a 4” male Convict with only a little chasing around dinner time. They were all put in at the same time and once the pecking order was established with the Trimac at the top of the food chain they settled right in. I do suspect the fact that the Midas probably being a female has allowed the situation to work, since the Trimac spends his time cleaning, displaying and generally spending most of his time trying to get what most guys spend most of their time trying to get.;) Trimacs are my favorite fish, big, bad, and good looking. I have not seen a FH that looks half as good as what nature made.
PS. I said my Trimac was pushing 12", correction he's pushing 11" just to set the record stright.

I'd love to post a pic ill have to take a few, the colors seem to have faded a bit, i think he needs a girl. Right now hes 6-7" sharing his tank with a 10" oscar a school of silver dollers and a giant danio. With no problems

Lost him a few months ago. He was a huge eater, grew extremely fast, & was peaceful considering his size, & reputation.

Working on a few new guys.

Wow, that is one of the nicest trimacs I have ever seen. Sorry for your loss. What happened?
