Makes me wonder whether vets actually go on any handling/behaviour courses. They well should IMO.

So what end up happening is that I don't have enough handle of them, and end up having them go into weird places like my pants. I know it sounds stupid.

My big blood was once sitting in my lap when she decided my pajama pants would be a better place to sit. There used to be a button over that little hole/flap thing, but she had no trouble changing that.

JD, I'm sure vets do go through some kind of animal handling training in school, but it probably doesn't involve reptiles. It should, but I doubt it.

I think I'm going to get some appropriately-sized rigid plastic tubes for the next time I need to take a snake to the vet. You know, like they do with venemous snakes...I think that would work better for most snakes than what this guy did.

Yeah you could do that. Or just say to him (stretching the truth a tadge) that the way he handled your snake stressed it out last time and it was hard to get feeding again. You could say that you'd appreciate it if he listened to you, and held the snake calmly until/unless it shows sign of aggression/nervousness. That's what I'd probably say. Dunno if it would work though :)

yea this can deff go 2 ways.
i have a 24 pound maine coon cat named monte. not fat ethier just built.
he is the SWEETEST. i think he has some teddy bear in him cause he is a friggen rag doll.
anyways this cat's claws are humongous. he just NEVER EVER uses them.
im friends with my vet, they all know my cat and love him, and let him walk around the office when i take him for vists but when it comes to check up they ahve 3 vets hold him down, even though he is lying down on his own accord cause i told him too. smart cat. and the vets are always supized he lets them restrain them no prob. i guess the point of this is if i was a vet i prob would have done the same.even though my cat is a sweetheart they don't understand when we are poking them ands sticking sharp metal objects in them really heals them. even though they are smart understanding animals, and maybe be clam, it only takes one panic attack, and u have big scars from a cat or a big snake bite. going to the vet is quite stressful for animals.but after finding out the snakes tempermant the vet should still restrain, but not so forcefully next time

I weren't there, so I can't say, but if he was overly forceful then a quick word would help :D
