My common silver dollars broke out in ich pretty bad about 24-48 hours after I brought them home in late February.

That sucks. Did they recover?

All but one.

It was 8 common SDs about 2" each. I didn't have any API salt to treat the tank with at the time so I just treated with raised temp (about 85-86 for a couple weeks) and Rid-Ich. It seemed to work pretty well, they recovered fairly quickly, but one was dead when I got home from work on the first day after the initial breakout.

Also in early April I added 5 Red Hook SDs, and about 5 days to a week after adding them they all broke out in ich (the red hooks, not the commons again). Treated with salt, increased temp and Rid-ich and they were all back to normal w/in a couple days.

Silver dollars are pretty hardy. I have had them on and off for years and I never had any get ick. Even when a whole tank succombed to the disease my dollars were fine. Another almost bullet proof fish is a tinfoil barb espicially the adults.
