hello guys is there any tropheus i can do as a colony in a 55, how many males and females should i do and what species.

Tropheus do best in a species only tank. It is suggested to keep at least 12-17 for a normal size group. They are very aggressive, so the large numbers will help dissipate the aggression. Just make sure to have lots of rock and hiding places.

so you think 12 of them would be ok in a55? if so how many males? and what species do you guys recommend

A 55 will work temp, I would go with duboisi, as they are less agressive than moorii and brichardi. I grow my tropheus in 55 gallons. My adult colonies are in 6ft tanks.

20 is not min colony size, you can get away with as few as 12, larger is recomended but dont think that you HAVE to have 20.

I also have 25 Moliro in a 75 with zero problems. Granted they are going to be moved to a 4ft 100 gallon very soon, it is very possible to keep them in a 75.

just wouldent advise it, i kept 10 in a 240 gal before i increased numbers and ended up being 7 from agression, bigger tank + more fish works for me now i have 28 or so tropheus and some other tangs
