I spent I think atleast $250, you can get most heaters for like $60 you don't wannt get glass

But then there's the added cost of actually running the heaters, which is quite expensive when you keep the temperature at 75°F during the winter. It's just not worth it, tropical fish don't look too good from above.

You would'nt really be able to see and enjoy the fish if the pond is in ground.Looking down on them would'nt give you much of a visual unless you keep something with a flat body like stingrays or maybe some type of large catfish.Then you would have to keep the water warm enough year round,at least 78 degrees.That's one reason Koi really work well as pond fish.

That's what I was thinking, I am also from north Louisiana. There is no way I would want to pay for the electric bill to heat an outdoor pond throughout the winter. For me it would have to be indoors or just not worth it.
