beautiful!!

someone needs to bring in these in juvie stage.

we did; worked that out with the initial order in 2005 (shark aquarium), again circa 2007 (H20 Custom Aquatics), and i think mike made another order in 2008. all the t-gars in the US are from those orders.

Use that tank for your next step. Next use the 50 and then from there you should be good.

definitely agree. they seem to have subtle differences from our juveniles, but not as much as i thought we might see. may have to get some pics from Costa Rica...

will post some of the El Salvador t-gars for Michael...shows off that in some cases the larger fish do retain some amazing pattern--

there really aren't any "variants" per se...there are several populations, several of them disconnected from one another and therefore localized differences do develop. t-gars range from mexico all the way to costa rica, so they actually have a large latitudinal distribution, and are the only extant gar species that has a pacific drainage population too.

all those things taken into account, there is going to be a pretty high degree of variability among some populations. they did a study on this a few years back, even proposing the idea that the Guatemala population potentially be a different species (still a lot of work to be done on that though)--

Thx everyone, i will put him in the 25.

One more question should i keep feeding him as much feeders as he will eat or should i limit him. He eats about 5 to 9 feeders in two days. Don't worry feeders have been grown in a control enviroment for months.

keep allowing him to eat as many feeders as he wants - you can always scale back a bit to feeding every day or every other day when the fish reaches 12-14". good luck, and great fish!--
