I'm sure Sol will say the same in a bit but yes that Illustration is of a rather normal patterned Lepisosteus oculatus.

My t gar moves a lot...for food, that bugger out eats any four fish in the tank....and he'll do it daily...he's the main reason i dont feed every day that bugger eats until he cant swim as it is. Looks funnier than hell hoping along on the bottom of the tank next to the AUL.
