Does everyone understand that these gars will not be shipped to states that have true gar restrictions? These states include:
Arizona
California
Colorado
Connecticut
Hawaii
Idaho
Maine
Nevada
Oregon
Utah
Washington

umm why the hype over these comming back? what happened?

any ways i'd take one.

I was under the impression that this fish was a "tropical gar". I remember reading something about their reopened importation on this very site a few years ago and thought the animal I bought was one of them. As you can see it doesn't look like the one in your picture. Can you help me identify it?

That is a Longnosed Lepisosteus osseus...Common names are a mess with gars and the lack of people out there on the supply side with any knowledge of them is pretty limited. It really is best to ID them yourself long before ordering one online or trusting the LFS / wholesaler to ID them properly.

In the case of these Tropicals you are guaranteed a correct and positive ID if obtained through Solomon, myself, or the dealer we are working with on this.

I hate not knowing everything I can about the animals in my care. I feel like I could be providing better care if I knew more. I tried to get positive ID on it when I got it but it's hard typing in a description in google. I guess I've found the place for the help I needed. Thanks again.
