So I've found someone local to me that is supposedly selling tropical gars. He told me they were sold to him as "tropical spotted" gars but isn't 100% sure what they are. He can't send me any pictures and I don't want to miss this deal as I've been looking for a tropical for some time. I currently have a few Floridas but have never seen any tropicals in person. What are some key characteristics that will help me to identify it as a tropical? Thanks in advance

they look like floridas when it comes to pattern IMO.
but they have the thicker "atractosteus" snout and body shape.
you'll know its not a florida immediately when you see one.

So here's a picture of the gars that are supposedly tropicals...what do you guys think? Look like floridas to me.
You think that one might just be swimming towards the glass and the guy took the pics at the wrong time. I HIGHLY doubt that gar is like that all the time. Even when my Potted/Fla Gar is swimming around the hose for the air bubbler he bends all crazy like that. I think it was just the timing of the pics.
