I may be jumping the gun but ive had my p bass (2-3 inches) for about four days and i am having trouble getting them to eat. every time i put pellets in there they swim to them, stop, then swim away. I know most people wait two weeks before they worry about it, but i thought the time would be shorter because they are so small. the only thing they have eaten is a few guppy fry. adult guppies may be too big right now....any ideas?

when my guys were tiny i fed them frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp mostly..
i don't like feeding live food for two reasons: 1. the possibility that the feeders will bring disease in the tank, and 2. because i believe feeding live feeders increases the aggression level.
i don't like pellets for the same reason i don't like commerical dog food. you have no control over the ingredients and it's processed and cooked and entirely unnatural for them to eat.
so i feed frozen food.. blood worms, and brine shrimp mostly when they are tiny. adding frozen krill, catfish nuggets, market shrimp, chicken hearts, and chicken breast chunks as they grow larger.

i need to buy some krill and more meaty food thats frozenok thanks do you think an adult guppy would work? i only have a limited number of guppy fry....and i tried earthworms but they werent intrested maybe they are too big as well...idk where to get bloodworms all the local lfs suck and there are bait shops but they just sell earthworms i think

yea any size guppies would work. But not too big of an full grown adult guppy...you don't want to choke your lil pbasses lol. Yea i hardly see any pbass taking earthworms. Only Bloodworms is what mainly works
Feed 'em live, I have seen first hand what frozen bloodworms do to their growth. At 2-3" medium sized guppies will be great. They grow fast on live food so they will able to eat goldfish within a month or so.
Just give them a few days to adapt to their new enviroment, i had them in 40 gallons with all of their buddies, now they are the only two, try throwing a bunch of guppies in their, that is what i feed them and they eat everyone in seconds, plus thats there natural reaction is too eat the guppies. I feed them fairly good sized guppies to 1"-1 1/4" like i said a few days you will see change they will start to feel more comfortable in their new enviroment, keep me informed on how they are doing, thanks
