well like the title says im having trouble getting two african butterfly fish to eat anything but live crickets...wich is not a real big deal sept for the fact that i have to have live crickets on hand...ive tried flakes, pellets, bloodworms, brine shrimp, freeze dried krill.they will snap at anything that hits the water or that comes buy them but actually eating it is a differnt story..unless its a live cricket....my lfs said thats what he was feeding them and i was wondering if it was going to be tricky getting them kinda weened off them ...any suggestions...

mine always learned to eat pellets after observing other fish eating them. so maybe put a few greedy fish in the tank and it will give them some clue what to do. this works on alot of preditor fish but it may take some time. most recently i converted 2 1 year old red bay snook over to pellets this way. after about 3 weeks they caught on. but not until they were really hungry lol

ya the only fish i have in my tanks that feed at that level would be my white clouds the rest are bichirs and ropes ive thought about starvin them for a bit see if it will help they will strike at anything i put in there but if it isnt a cricket they spit it out imediatly

try starving them for a while(not just a few days). i have young bichirs and ropes that will feed at the surface if i feed mealworms or pellets.

well after a few days of starvin them, i finally got them to take bloodworms, and freeze dried krill, gusto too. was wondering if it was actually going too happen.
