Hello, I'm new to keeping Ray's and I am having trouble getting mine to eat. I have only had him for 4 days so far, but the place I got him from told me he was eating 2 ghost shrimp a day before they shipped him to me. I have a 125 gal tank and a few other fish that I have had for a little while. I usually feed them frozen shrimp, beefheart, and worms. They are very quick when it comes to feeding time and it seems like the Ray gets more active, but doesn't seem to get anything. I have put several ghost shrimp in the tank at the same time and also tried to cut up some nightcrawlers. the other fish are just to fast and aggressive. I have seen him try to get a ghost shrimp, but not eat them even when they are almost walking on top on him and he seems to have no interest in the nightcrawlers. Temp is 79-80, amm 0, Nitrite 0 Thank You

Can you separate him from his tank mates? A new baby ray will easily get outcompeted for food if you have fast tank mates. I'd separate him and stick to earthworms cut very small. What type of ray is it? Wild or captive?

The ray sounds like it was not eating almost at all before, sounds like you need to seperate the ray as all the other fish are getting to the food first. That will be your first key as it sounds like your main challenge. What size and type of ray?

He is a wild teacup stingray, about 4 inches across his disk, I have a 10gallon tank with a small HOB filter and Intank heater. It's not been a very good tank has far as its good bacteria. Water conditions go bad quick. It is currently holding his shrimp that we were hoping to get to breed.

How about just putting in a divider than? A baby retic my not last long in a 10g. Wc retics can be challenging. Good luck

Thanks. Do they make dividers that size or am I looking at making one? What materials do I need?

I always just use light diffusers from home depot etc. They look like a white plastic grid and you can cut them to size.

Use a thing called egg crate

A 4" ray is a wild caught new born its a few months old at max

A ray that size should be fed 2-3 times per day on blood worm or black worms frozen if the ray will eat it
