ive found if I set the focus to the flower, as opposed to auto focus, i get better results

lol..By flower, I think he means the 'macro' setting..it's used for extreme close ups.. it's my fave setting.... With lots of practice I've gotten a little better.. but I find that at night with only the tank lights on, works the best so +1 on that. Also don't use the flash, you'll get too much reflection... and I find that I get frusterated if I'm following the fish around trying to take a picture... so instead, I get a step stool.. sit and wait at any given area of the tank... they'll get nosey and come check you out at some point... but try to be a still as possible.. and I'll do this for about an hour or an hour and a half.. so be patient if you want some decent pictures..

another tip is dont follow the fish around, keep your camara focus (button half pressed) at a spot and wait for the fish to swim into your lens.

1) Wait till night time then turn off all the lights where your tank is located and obviously turn your fishtank lights on...

2) Setup your camera on a tripod (with fastest shutter speed without sacrificing quality) and wait for the fish to come into your view finder, of if hes a relaxed fish, point the camera at the fish where you want to take the shot...

3) Be patient and wait for the right moment to take the pic OR take loads of pics and hope you get a few nice ones...
