Trout at up to 79 degrees??? Is this possible

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
MN rebel. You jerk. I know I have those fish... You don't do this to people with 20 aquariums. Why do you have me? Unless you just do not know how to talk to people. Its just that you sound very mean. I'm planning what to do when I transfer all of my fish into the 120 gallon. I'm still going to use my 55 for small minnows, etc. I will figure out what to do with my fish. They are mine not yours. I was just asking for advice, not your b****ing. Sorry for being alive.
I'm not being jerk, I'm being realistic and you just don't want to hear what I say so you got upset because you knew its true. You don't have proper equipment to keep trout alive in your place. Be patient and let just wait till you get your friend's tank then you can ask questions.

You can put all the fans and air bubbles you want you won't drop the tempeture more then a couple of degrees.

....and probably blow a fuse or trip a breaker.

I'm asking if anything could work. I'm going to try to get a chiller for my 55 since i am getting the 120. Hopefully my mom does not change her mind ata the last minute.

Mentioned on the other thread - a chiller is really the only way to go with your situation if you want a trout. Unless you found a way to cool the entire room - window A/C unit or dehumidifier.

The A/C is probably not the best idea though, because you will likely be fighting against your other tanks - assuming they have heaters. You'll just create even higher electricity bills.

Also I got upset because you keep telling me to do that and keep people from answering my questions. I am planning to at least get a 100 gallon, but I think that it would be best to get my friends 120 because its for $50 or less to free. I am sorry. I know you are realistic. Can you please answer only the question. All the stuff im asking is for after the changes. I know my fish are overcrowded. MN rebel Im sorry i called you a jerk, I just had a bad day... Can you just please lighten up on the comments about my current fish. I will get a bigger tank soon. I just need to think what it would be. I know it needs to be about 20 or more.

Okay, you've been advised of what will and won't work,it's all here for you.I can tell you the cheapest chiller is a couple hundred bucks and probably drains the electricity of a small refrigerator and the money that will be tied up and spent because of the chiller could be better spent on other things...Look into another fish.

I know. I guess I will stay and make Only 1 Thread for all of my questions now. I'm sorry for being a jerk. Is it possible to delet the Threads i had made Before??? Sorry for wasting time.

The Barilius genus has some awesome looking fish that are trout-like and can be kept in a range of 66F to 80F. Many are suitable for your standard home aquaria since they don't grow too huge. Trout require cool, highly oxygenated water and most will grow too large for a typical aquarium.

The hobby will be a lot more rewarding if you choose to keep fish that you can properly care for. You likely won't need a heater or a chiller to keep barilius.

Some examples:

Barilius bakeri
Barilius shacra
Barilius pulchellus
Barilius bendelisis
Barilius canarensis

I had a brown trout for a while in my tank and it was doing alright at cold temps as my tank was in the basement and not heated but one night my crawdad caught it and must have been hungry. Sad as they are very hard to catch with a net.
