Trout in my aquarium ^^

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Trout are very cool. They won't make it very long in water above 70 degrees. You need a chiller for your tank to keep them long term. I've been wanted to keep some for a long time, they are abundant around here, but never got around to getting a chiller because of the extra cost.

the water in the tank is around 60 now they where breething heavy becouse they just got in the tank from a long long ride home hehe!

they are doing fine now!
they are making loads of noises its really hard to sleep o.O!
im hoping they will do fine in my 200g tank without cooling in 70f

otherwise i will try and sell them!
they are only found in trout farms here so im hoping loads of people want them for there tanks!

Yeah they are farmed in small ponds outside. The ponds will be around 70F during summer. We won't trow fish outside just like that, but still I don't think you have to make too big of a deal about it. Its Holland here. One cold winter and all aquarium fish will die outside. There are no snakehead invasions here, it freezes during winter.
And even than, we live in a polder. There are now 500.000 citizens living here, but 80 years ago there was only sea. Than they made a big dam and it became a big lake for about 50 years. And this city only exists 25 years. In my opinion all fish that swim here are invasive and there's nothing wrong with having a pond with a few trout in it while the whole pond is some kind of artificial after all.

The danger is not in creating an invasive fish population, but in introducing non native diseases or parasites from your tank. Thats why its illegal to release even native fish once they've been kept in home aquaria. (at least in the US)
Just throwing that out there.

Excellent response Thalan.....everybody thinks of invasive fish, but very few people realize the effect of invasive diseases or parasites.
