Trout season opens in PA in one week-YES

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Buffalo season opens the 1st I can't wait. I seem to have the best luck with spikes in the small creeks and spoons off the piers.
Good luck everyone

I will be out there, scouted all winter, I got a few hike in holes in mountian creek, and Maybe a trip up north to nescopeck creek.

Remember the northern section of PA doesn't open until Apr.18- don't want Fish and Boat ruining your season. I fish the nescopeck alot- live in Hazleton. Great creek. Have you tried the Mauch Chunk creek too- that's good also. If you come up to the Nescopeck take a detour to Lake Irena in Hazle Twp park- fish the inlet- that is another good spot but does get crowded.

Yeah the weather is not looking good but I have a rainsuit- be dammed if some water is going to stop me (I have worked on the Lehigh river in colder weather as a river guide- was wet all day).

i went today and it was like a hurricane briefly.

I am going to wait until the weekend after opening day. There will be plenty of fish left in the streams for me, and I won't have to deal with annoying crowds. Alot of the people go fishing opening day and that is it, so they tend to give me a headache with tangles and such.

It opens April 18th here near the Pittsburgh area. I love to take a ride over to the Yough River and outflow to go fishing. It is one of the best if not the best trout fishing rivers in all of Pa.

Yea im pretty sure it was 2 years ago??? that they changed the southern 15ish counties in PA to two weeks earlier

Openning day was not good- weather was crap. Caught few small natives in Neiffert's Creek below the dam- not worth it. One person caught 1 in the dam but the wind was turning over the pond. Rest of the area streams were mobbed. I have Thurs. off so I am going out then if the weather is better. I have boated the Yough but never got to fish it- is it worth the 4+ hr. trip?
