I turned in the title to insuance after they paid me. To the best of my knowledge they never found it. I had bought the truck used privately for 3k actually a really good deal and insurance valued it at $74xx so I came out ahead. Didn't actually care much for it anyway so I was fine with it.
Back to the op. Did you have a active loan on it? If so if you have loan insurance and gap insuance any amount that your auto insuance doesn't pay should be covered via those too insuance policies so you shouldn't lose any money overall.
I bought my project car(Chevette) back in November to replace the Mustang as it's hard to get the family around in.
The problem was/is we mis-placed the title and until today we have not found it. I was suppose to go today and apply to get it replaced.
Now with the truck stolen I need to drive the Mustang. Had we had the title back in December(when I planned on selling it). We would not have a 2nd car(The Chevette is not road worthy as it has a nasty oil leak that I was waiting to sell the Mustang before working on it).
Seems not finding the title was a blessing in disguise.
sorry off tyopic a little.........but this make me think of this crazy old guy I used to know. He had his stereo jacked from his Trans Am a couple of times, as a result...he went out and bought the most expensive stereo he could find and had it installed. also, he had razor wire rapped around the wire harness so that the next guy that tried to steal it would never be able to get his hand out from under the dash in one piece LOL.
