Is that even possible? Asian arowanas are federally prohibited species and you really can't own an Asian arowana without permits.

They also cost a lot of money, a juvenile can fetch $500 or more (depending on the variety).

Yes, I know that, but you said the person offer YOU the fish, which to my understanding is quite illegal. And for $200, I'd say that's not very possible.

Highly doubt its an asian aro. If it is, you have just hit the lottery
of the fish world . Nobody in his right mind will sell one in the us
at that size and at that price.

In any case, try taking a pic and post it here. Or better still,
check out our gallery and look at our singapore member's asian aro
(or just type in scleropages formosus in google ) , memorize how they
look like (down to scale size) and compare that with the arrowana
being offered to you.
