Had this guy about 3 years. He's about 8 inches long, fat as heck, and eats like a piggy. Oh and he hurts when he bits. I got him and his mate at the same time at a mere silver dollar size and he's just huge compared to how big she was. (i lost her a couple months ago)

Is he a true BP? Or is he mixed with something else?
In comparison, the RTC is 12 inches.

Right, those are saltwater fish that you are referring to. I want to know if my freshwater Blood Parrot is true ( i know they are still hybrid), or if its mixed with another type of cichlid. He has always been the largest, and the top "lip" doesn't look like a typical BP.

I may be wrong but I think what he's pictured IS a "true blood parrot cichlid" and what some of you are thinking of is a "parrot cichlid" (no blood part to the name).

The one pictured looks like a very cute, typical blood parrot to me :)

I love your big guy (i know we've discussed our BPs on another thread in the past).

Yours does have a larger girth and much less of a defined 'head' than mine.. but even with the 3 guys that I have, they all look subtly different.

My King James is probably about the same length as yours but your guy is beefier and my guy has been developing some long fin trailers that our other 2 don't have.

I guess because they are all hybrids, they are just a little different.
