it is a parrot, but the male do not breed true, because they are infirtle. he is a very nice looking fish, i wish my king kong parrot is as big as your parrot is.

Thanks everyone! I am starting to agree as I look thru more pics of them, he does look like a BP. Evil Kid, I rescued the RTC when he was just a little fingerling. I fell for his deformity and knew he'd fit in with my other misfits. As he grows, his top jaw has stays flat, and his underbite becomes more pronounced. He's getting quite a personality too. If he doesn't get his sinking pellets first, him and the JD will battle for the floating ones lol.

Had this guy about 3 years. He's about 8 inches long, fat as heck, and eats like a piggy. Oh and he hurts when he bits. I got him and his mate at the same time at a mere silver dollar size and he's just huge compared to how big she was. (i lost her a couple months ago)

Is he a true BP? Or is he mixed with something else?
In comparison, the RTC is 12 inches.

Again a Blood Parrot is a manmade Freshwater fish

A Parrot(NOT blood) is a Marine fish.

I may be wrong but I think what he's pictured IS a "true blood parrot cichlid" and what some of you are thinking of is a "parrot cichlid" (no blood part to the name).

The one pictured looks like a very cute, typical blood parrot to me

Yours looks a bit thicker than mine currently is, and maybe an inch longer too. I got mine from a LFS that had someone drop her off as a trade. She has quite the personality and is a pig too.
