Has anyone ever seen this fish? My LFS has them at about 1.5-2in Fins are red and you can see the black barring starting to come in. I just want to know what this might look like full grown. Anyone have one or any of you scientific people want to take a shot at what it could statisticly look like? lol. If this ends up being a cool fish, I want to put one in my 75. Single fish.

WIth that kind of mix i would take a shot at growing him! do it!

I guess that's the story with most hybrids. lol. I guess I better get to setting up the 75gal.

When somebody asks the question what will the offspring of X and X be? The possibilities of the outcome are very broad.
Breeding hybrid traits takes time, patiences, experience and know-how. When breeding hybrids, almost all will look worst than both mother and father. But sometimes a few fry will pick up both positive traits of both mom and dad and have no deformities. These are the fish you want whether it be for breeding or stocking.
But this is looking like a young ugly mayan now. Too young to say potential yet, but if he darkens and peel he might be pretty special. What I can say is he will be fairly agro.

looking at the spots (including the eyespot) it looks part mayan, not festae... mayans have the eyespot centered, festae only have a little one on the top half... still an interesting mix though!
