(true or false) do fish grow to their environment?

That's not true at all.
If they're in an environment that is too small, they may become stunted, but that isn't natural growth in any way.

your right i never thought of it that way. its just my turtle will grow to his environment says the shop guy. so i thought it was a bit the same. thanks for the info.

Shop guy was wrong. After your turtle becomes stunted and dies, take it back to the store and whack the guy that sold it to you. Good turtle shell should last a few good blows.
 
everything the others said is true and I would have to agree 100% that your shop guy don't know jack about what is correct or safe for anything that will be growing in an aquairium . For your friends safty I would recomend that you find another pet store.

i would be that shop is the only shop with in 50 miles that sells good fish and different species. all the other shops sell guppies and goldfish barbs that sorta thing, this shop sells plecos whiptails eels sharks shrimp ect... so yeh ill just ask you guys for info instead of that jerk weed then. you guys are so helpful and informative. thanks.:)
 
If its a fish that grows large and its in a tiny tank it can grow deformed with a messed up spin and body.. But if its a small fish they wont keep growing, they have a max size.. So I think its false.
