I don't have pictures, but true festae will have a "Y" shape made by the first two bars on the fish. This is not present on Cichlasoma uropthalamus, the Mayan cichlid.

You've been misinformed. The Y rule is true on both male and female.

Also on Festae the Ocellus is 100% above the lateral line whereas on Uro's, it's above and below.

See the 'Y' on both sexes?
