idk aboutr the black arrowana, they are quite a bit more expensive than what i am looking for is there another fish that would work. Like knifefish? maby a black ghost idk if they are form amazon though.

I could go with a silver though but i could get a good size black ghost for a pretty good price

woop woop for idaho! there aren't that many big tanks out there, but my old roommate works in a sturgeon housing facility. pretty intense! i love biotopes

You've got way too many fish planned for there, and a biotope is a re-created natural habitat, which in aquaria terms is recreating a river system (such as the Rio Tocantins, Rio Araguaia, Rio Tapajos, etc.) with a selection of fish species, not the whole continent; it's much more narrowed down.

6x3x2 is a beautiful tank size and probably my favourite because of the huge footprint, but it's still not that big. Given your fish choices I think something along these lines would be much more appropriate.

4x Uaru amphiacanthoides "Triangle Cichlid/Waroo"
3x Hoplarchus psittacus "Parrot Cichlid"
2x Hypselecara temporalis "Chocolate Cichlid"
1x Osteoglossum bicirrhosum "Silver Arowana"
1x Crenicichla sp. (Pike)
2x Atronotus ocellatus "Oscar"

Not my personal favourite fish choices, minus the Chocolates/Parrots, but it'll work. If you're looking to keep multiples of each species watch for breeding pairs.

to go with japes here

i would say
4 Uaru
1 Parrot
4 Severums ( Appendiculatus, Rotkiel, Green etc.)
6 geophagus heckeli
Acaras
festivum

i think this would work great maybe add in a big school of buenos aires tetras or something else and hope the parrot doesnt eat them when it gets big :grinno:

im deffinitely getting some more fish so ill add to them as my memory returns

Edit : my memory returned really quickly......... haha

PIkes , i would get a few bellycrawler pikes (very common and easy to find), or maybe a sveni i wouldnt get a lugubris species as they would dominate and eat some of the smaller fish

an arowana will get cramped i think especially with other fish, once it gets 3' long it will be half the size of your tank.....

okay thats kinda what i thought so whats another large "oddball" fish from amazon that i could use. A black ghost knife? what do you guys htink

Ghost knife should work with that group, give it lots of cover and get a big one.
