These are TRUE trimacs. Jeff Rapps knows his stuff and so does Demetrios. PM him if you have a problem with the sale, don't post publicly. You'll regret it, trust me...I've learned.:D

Fish will change color with age, and that little female will look stunning at 10". Don't miss out on the trimac guys.

i dont care what jeff rapps has to say. his stock is flawed if these came from him. nothing he can do can affect me. i would love to see some dna results on these fish. these are NOT pure.

Hey dk66gt, when did you order them and did you get them directly (from Jeff himself) or indirectly (from a LFS that order from him, etc.).

Instead of all this back and fourth blabber I e-mailed Jeff directly about this, as he could shed light on the situation proper. This intrigues me, as they look like flowerhorns (to my untrained eye) but I trust Jeff Rapp's reputation.

Let me know what he says, I'm intrigued myself.:D

Jeff got back to me. Here is what he has to say.

Thanks for your email Jamie.

I received one batch of these fish from another breeder at
small size. I cannot vouch for the precise lineage of this
fish as I didn't breed them myself.

I agree, they appear to have other genes than trimaculatus.
It's not a common practice for me to stock these fish. I
try hard to maintain as close to wild form as possible on
all the species I work with. Although the fish are
attractive, and there is an incredible following for such
fish, they do not appear to be solely trimacs.
I just won't purchase them from that particular breeder
again.

I am currently breeding trimac adults that are direct
decendants of my stock from a couple years ago. They have
successfully spawned three times and the first brood ought
to be of marketable size in 3-4 weeks.

Best regards, Jeff
